Tactic number 4

Find your voice

We will describe this topic briefly, because you need a voice coach to develop your ideal speaking voice. In short: you need to control your voice. To do this, you need to learn to expand your larynx. This is the opposite of constricting or squeezing the larynx. Squeezing is the natural reaction of the larynx to fear, exertion or euphoria. One way to do this is to speak slowly in a low voice. This gives your larynx space and, as a bonus, reduces your tension. Build in small pauses while speaking. If you hear that you are losing control of your voice, place your hand on your stomach and press gently. Your voice will drop again and you will regain control. Control yourself. Move calmly, also to and from the stage.
